- Who are you picking to win the World Series?
Cincinnati Reds: I don't follow baseball too much but know that the league is becoming more about defense and pitching than home runs. The Reds have given up the least runs of any playoff team so I'm going with them.
- Which NFL QB will finish with the most fantasy football points this season?
My original pick was Aaron Rodgers. He sits around 15th place now in most leagues. But, I'm sticking with my pick. While Matt Ryan is on a torrid pace and RG3 is a duel threat I firmly believe Rodgers will be the guy. Not only will he have more games like last week where he throws 4 TDs, but he'll end the season with 6-7 rushing TDs also.
Rodger's rushing is an underestimated aspect that will lead him to the most QB fantasy points this year. |
- Will West Virginia win the Big 12 in football this season?
Looking at their schedule there is no reason why not. So yes. This weekend may be their toughest test at Texas. But, if my memory serves me correct they get Kansas State, Oklahoma, and TCU at home. Plus they score like 60 points a game. Worth watching really.
- Will the undefeated Arizona Cardinals make the playoffs?
I didn't include them in my picks at the beginning but did write that they could surprise and supplant the Niners. And I did tell Greenwood on Marianne's back porch that they were better than people thought. So...YES I do think they'll make the playoffs. They'll have to win a game like tomorrow's at St. Louis to get it done and defeat SF at least once. I think they will.
- Should Miguel Cabrera win the AL MVP award?
Yes! He's going to win the Triple Crown. Only 16 other players have ever done that and none since 1967. That's crazy talk right there. How can a person says he's not more valuable than any other player to his team on a daily basis?
Cabrera's attempting to complete baseball's modern day Mission Impossible. |
- Do you like the MLB's extra Wild Card game?
Yes! Playoffs should dumb down the competition and this won't. It's only one game and the teams fighting each other are good teams. Each of them deserve a shot at winning in the postseason after competing this well for 162 games.
- Will Alabama go undefeated?
Yes! What hasn't happened in college football for awhile? Back to back folks. And who will stop Bama? LSU? Nah. This is about Nick Saban and the dynasty he has at the moment. I hate to say it but Bama will go undefeated. Even still, they should have to earn a national championship by defeating other conference champions in a national tournament. Crazy concept I know.
From Bro Ken:
ReplyDeleteReminder, I know almost nothing about these. So,
Reds, RG3, No TX, No AZ, Yes MC, Yes WC, and No AL. Thanks.
Ken, I'm just happy you read the blog. But, this is an opportunity to expand your horizons and research a little.
DeleteMy pick for the World Series is the Giants, like you I dont really follow baseball because its extremely boring, but the giants have great pitching and I think enough offense to get it done. I'd like to say the A's, but I just cant do it.
ReplyDeleteI say either Brees or Rodgers will lead the league in fantasy this year. Both those teams have no running game and rely on them heavily.
Yes I do remember you saying that the cardinals would be better than people thought. Will they make the playoffs, I am saying no, they'll eventually come back to life and realize that their QB situation is still pathetic and can't rely on the defense all the time. Unless they have the replacement officials that officiated the Seahawks game, I dont see them getting in the playoffs.
West virginia wont win because they have no defense. Hell I could probably walk on and play for them. I still say either Kansas State or Oklahoma will probably win, even though I have no faith in OU. I dont think Texas will win it either, they'll blow some games.
Completely agree with Cabrera winning the AL MVP. How in the hell can you say anyone else when the triple crown hasn't been done since 1967!! The fact that people think that he shouldn't is just mind boggling to me…yes Trout had a great year, and he made the Angels better, but are they in the playoffs…?? Oh thats right there not! So if there is a tie in someones thinking dont you think making the playoffs should be the tie-breaker…anyhow I say it should be cabrera in a landslide, but I am sure the old baseball writers that are stuck in the 20's will come up with some argument against him…
I like the extra wild card playoff team as well. I mean before you had 8 out of 30 teams in the league making it, what is the harm in adding 2 more. Compare that to the NBA where you have 16 of 30 teams, and adding 2 more teams makes sense to me. Plus a 1 game wild card is going to be exciting TV. You'd think MLB would be trying to get anyone to watch their product, and this is a step in the right direction.
I agree with Bama going undefeated and probably winning the national championship again. I dont see anyone in the SEC beating them unless Mccarron turns the ball over 4 times and the other team gets the ball inside the 10. SEC will take home its 7th straight title….when is this playoff starting, for me it can't get here soon enough!!!
This is tyler by the way
Deleteglad you clarified wasn't sure considering you talked about not picking the A's!
DeleteI gotta go with Detroit to win the Series this year.
ReplyDeleteAaron Rodgers better finish with the most points or my fantasy team is in trouble. The Pack will catch fire here soon.
I know nothing about college football or West Virginia, but I do know the both Washington teams UW and WSU are awful!
Cardinals will not make the playoffs this year. In fact, they might not win EVER again, ever.
Cabrera for AL MVP seems pretty obvious to me and most everyone. Unfortunately Jayson Stark of ESPN (I'm not a fan) tends to disagree and he's kind of usually right. More Wildcards, Yes! I always like extra playoff games!
Alabama is really good. But no, they will not go undefeated. Again, I base this on nothing, due to my lack of college football knowledge. Go Badgers.
Nice to see you haven't forget about this page Michael and your Cardinals prediction may be prophetic. However, your Mariners didn't finish off so well. But, I know you are banking on the future...
DeleteOh I'm always here to read, just haven't had a whole lot of time to comment lately. Mariners improved their win total by 8 games from 2011. Next year they will need to improve that total by about 20 to make a playoff push. They are moving the fences in at Safeco, maybe next year is the year?
DeleteThe mariners make the playoffs, now thats funny!! All I hear about the m's is they have young talent and potential…really?? I've heard this for 10 years and I have yet to see any results. At some point don't people realize that 75 wins a year isn't going to cut it!! Especially considering they've had a payroll of 100 mil in years and are willing to spend money. Maybe the m's should look at the A's and how they run an organization. Here's a concept, draft pitching and try to develop your players. I am not saying the A's are a powerhouse, but I know what their plan is and how they run things. With the Mariners I have no idea what the hell they are doing. I see Adam Jones playing for the O's and all I can think about is that was the M's everyday CF who had gold glove potential, and can hit in the middle of your lineup!! Yet the M's trade him for Bedard, geniuses!! Also it took them 10 years to realize they should move the fences in?? I thought you could see that the first year…anyhow here is to next year mariners fans, or maybe the year after that, or maybe 2014…good luck with that concept…
ReplyDeleteTyler
Just brutal Tyler!
DeleteTyler clearly can't comprehend sarcasm and misread what I wrote because I only listed the requirement for making a playoff push. ALSO he missed out on math class because 75 + 20 additional wins equals 95 which is the target for making the playoffs. No one here is satisfied with 75 wins, and I never predicted anything. My point is that this desperate franchise now has some serious competition in the near future in their division and locally, (new SODO arena being built) and the time is now to recapture the interest in winning and playoff hopes (hence moving in the fences). Tyler must not realize the Ms have considerable current wealth and youth in waiting at the pitching position or he wouldn't have made such a baseless comparison to his playoff-choking A's and how to develop pitching prospects. Skip, I mean Tyler, quit blaming this version of the Ms on the horrible train wreck that Bill Bavasi caused. We all know he was awful and set the franchise back 3-4 years. This isn't the NFL where you can plug and play college phenoms. Get back to me when you have some relevant (and recent) analysis to add to the conversation, because right now you sound no different than the average fair-weather 'coastie fan' I've become all to familiar with on this side of the mountains.
DeleteBy the way Tyler, you are awesome to debate with so please don't take my comments the wrong way. Just having some fun...
DeleteMike, you're absolutely correct I can't pickup sarcasm when its over the computer, so you've got me there. And I didn't know you were stating something about qualifying for the playoffs. My overall point was I just dont see the wealth of young talent that people keep talking about. The only talent I see the M's having is Hernandez (until he leaves) and possibly that Danny Hultzen kid who is a left handed pitcher, other than that who do they have…ackley, smoak….yikes!! I completely agree with your statement about the M's having to try and make a move here sometime soon, but they haven't made the playoffs till 2001 I believe, so its been 11 years! I just dont see them making any strides is my point, yes Bavasi is a moron, but who were the idiots that hired him!!! Obviously someone in the organization thought he was capable.
DeleteNow onto your statement about my A's choking in the playoffs…all I can say to that statement is if you call making it to the playoffs and competing than yes they are chokers, however what happened to the record setting M's team in 2001 who won 116 games…oh that's right they didnt win squat either….and my A's are the chokers…ok if you say so. I just find your statement funny because who else in the league besides the Rays compete with a 50 million dollar payroll and groom there own players..? Anyhow, I'll continue cheering on my choking A's, and you can continue rooting on the M's, hope you're enjoying that ride!!
By the way, I'm not taking any of this personal, it's just a nice debate….kind of like our discussion involving Matt Schaub…
Tyler
Thanks Tyler for bringing up Schaub and reminding me of my greatness. If only I was the Texans GM they would win the next two superbowls with Peyton running the show. Kevin Walter would be a pro-bowler.
DeleteQuestion 1: Whats the World Series?
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: Danny Woodhead.
Question 3: Yes.
Question 4: Uh...do they play for this World Series thing?
Question 5: No but he should lose some weight.
Question 6: Uh...I though jokers were the only "wild cards" in a deck of cards.
Question 7: No.
